Sometimes you prefer to read what you're learning, or you want extra tools to better apply what you're working on with your coach. This is an ever-growing list of recommended books, apps and more. Below you will find personal recommendations from me that I have read/tested, as well as recommendations from other clients that I have not yet tested.

Coach Rachel's Recommendations

Books:
  1. Fat Loss Habits by Ben Carpenter - I appreciate Ben's straightforward explanations, and ability to explain complex topics so that anyone can understand. The style of writing is casual (it does contain some language, just a heads up) and unapologetic. Ben does a tremendous job of sharing the research--for and against a concept/topic--and then letting you choose what makes sense for you.

  2. Atomic Habits by James Clear - This is a phenomenal deep dive on the research of habit-formation, as well as a how-to guide to take habits and create realistic action steps that will move you forward. Many coaches consider this a bible of sorts in the world of setting and achieving goals! I love the emphasis on small, simple beginnings, and that the best things take time to achieve.

  3. Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg - Another great read on setting small, realistic steps towards your ultimate goals in life and health. The book is easy to read, and a practical guide in your journey. I don't know a single reader who hasn't improved their understanding of how to develop habits after reading this!

Apps:
  1. Jomo Screen Time Blocker - A phenomenal app that helps develop better phone habits, by allowing you to lock/restrict when or how much you use various apps. This is particularly useful for anyone trying to use their phone less at night!

  2. HelloHabit - A great app for tracking the little steps and habits you want to develop, especially useful for people who like reminders and visual progress tracking.

  3. RepCount - Love this app for tracking workouts with ease! It's simple and very user friendly.

  4. Plant Nanny Water Tracker - A fun way to track water intake! Each serving of water helps to grow your plant, and fill your "garden" with cute little creatures.

  5. Water Tracker: Water Reminder - A very simple water tracker that also sends push reminders.
